Nice abs. He gave her a look, wondering what she might say. Maybe “come back later?” or “please don’t go, I need you?” He waited. She said nothing. “Well?” he asked. “You’re still a disgusting slob, but good luck. And don’t ever come here again.” What the h*@%? What was her problem? – God of Wine by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff
Mimi Jean Pamfiloff writes romance with a twist – a twist that is dressed as a clown riding a vampiric unicorn. That was a metaphor. Or was it? One of the many things that keeps readers coming back to Mimi again and again is her sense of humor and intense worldbuilding. She writes across the genres, and everything she spins is gold, but I love her paranormal romance (PNR) work. God of Wine is from her latest series, Immortal Matchmakers. This third book is focused on one of the younger gods in her pantheon of insanity, but still super old…and gross in the naked streaking, beer-belly displaying, please tell me this is a nightmare if I wake up next to it…kind of way. Since the declaration that the good guys have to start pairing up with their lady loves to prevent them from flipping the script and going Chuck Norris on the world, stuff has been getting real. It’s not something that Belch, more formally known as Acan, has been worried about at all because he has been busy doing some hardcore partying. When it becomes apparent that he is the next one on fate’s list, he starts trying to pump the brakes. I have to say that the exchanges between Acan and his lady were delightfully charged, and I enjoyed the story in one sitting. That’s right. Sleep is for the weak! The heroine in this read is the tough cookie type that I love, and while she’s older than your typical romance reads at a young 45, never doubt that she has life by the short hairs. She is a divorcee who left an abusive relationship, a single mom, a gym owner, a fitness trainer, and she is definitely not letting life hold her back. Except she does not have a whole lot of time for extracurricular activity…Acan, on the other hand, has a different plan. This was a great, fun read, and while it does stand alone quite well – I would recommend reading the whole series to maximize the experience. Just read it all, people. If you like funny PNR and you have not heard of Mimi yet, then there is no time like the present. Treat yoself.

GOD OF WINE, Book #3, Immortal Matchmakers, Inc. Series (Standalone)
CAN ROCK-HARD ABS SAVE THE WORLD? HE SURE THINKS SO!
Reckless and wild, the God of Wine has been partying for over ten thousand years. And New Year’s Eve, when humans around the world succumb to his naturally occurring spike in powers, is his biggest night. Only this year, things are a bit different.
A plague is sweeping the immortal community, and he’s turning downright evil. All those New Year’s bashes will turn into bloodbaths if he doesn’t stop the transformation. Sadly, the only known cure is finding a mate. Not so easy for a rude, beer-bellied mess who’s definitely not husband material.
But can a little gym time and help from the pros at Immortal Matchmakers, Inc., turn him into a divine sex-machine? Absolutely!
So watch out, ladies! The God of Wine is lookin’ for love. And he has absolutely no clue what he’s doing.
