Ecstasy Unbound by Setta Jay

**advance reader copy received via NetGalley**

What a surprise this book was!  Ecstasy Unbound is the first book in Setta Jay’s Guardians of the Realms series, and she is currently offering the prequel, Hidden Ecstasy, for free.  This was the first time I have read anything by this author, but I have seen her name and books through the review and reader grapevine.  This is definitely an 18 and up read, but unlike many erotic works this one has an established and interesting storyline.  There is nothing more frustrating than reading page after page of steamy loving…or is there?  All jokes aside, I appreciate this type of writing more than any pieces focused purely on the physical connection between characters.  While the lovemaking scenes were highly detailed and charged, they only accentuated the story itself.

In a world where many of the gods have gone insane, Urian and 11 other immortal Guardians act as enforcement to ensure the survival of mankind.  An Aletheia among other races, Uri has many roles within the team, and many dark urges in his off time.  After lifetimes of being alone, his need for a mate is becoming more significant, and he has only been interested in one forbidden female.  Alexandra is a demigoddess and the daughter of Athena who has seen enough atrocities to harden her after being sheltered for so long.  Still struggling with her powers after so many years, Alex has been watching Uri for quite some time.  When the time comes, she knows just who to ask for help…despite his charge to exile any other immortals found in the realm.  Death, magic, and torturous experimentation all loom on the horizon as they struggle to find a place with each other and within the Guardian team.  This was an entertaining and smoking hot read!
