If you are a paranormal romance fan and have yet to sample the delights of this author, then you need to stop (collaborate and listen…sorry, I can’t help myself) and put her on your to-be-read (TBR) list right now! I absolutely love her Welcome to Hell series and her Furry United Coalition (FUC) books – they are well worth your time if you appreciate paranormal romance with humor. The review for today, however, is for the latest book in her delicious Kodiak Point series. The series thus far boasts three books and one novella with the next steamy, funny shifter piece slated to come in January 2015.
Eve Langlais has stepped into the trending anti-hero tales with her own consuming brute – the villainous polar bear known to many as Ghost, and Gene to those who knew him before he was captured overseas. A veteran with serious issues following imprisonment and torture by the enemy, Gene waffles between his quest for revenge and eschewing people in favor of living in the wild in his shifted bear form. The problem with this situation becomes apparent when a tiny, curvy, and clumsy researcher arrives in his area of operations…and she is loaded for bear. Throwing down the adventure gauntlet, Vicky joins a group traveling into the Alaskan wilds. Vicky is striking out on her own to prove that she can break out of the negative state she lived in thanks to nearly a lifetime of abuse. It just so happens that the bespectacled Vicky has a thing for polar bears, and she is determined to put her research degree to good use.
When it becomes apparent that someone is taking shots at them, Gene assumes he has drawn Vicky into danger, but threats surface from the most unexpected of places. If you enjoy wild escapades, steamy shifter loving, and adorable heroines then this is the story for you! While it stands alone just fine, I think that having read all the rest of the books in the series enhanced the story just a little bit. Wolf’s Capture, wolf shifter Brody’s story, is the next scheduled tale in the Kodiak Point series.
